Two Ways to Get Services in ECF CHOICES
People in the ECF CHOICES program can get their services in two different ways:
1. Through a Managed Care Organization (MCO)
2. Through Consumer Direction (CD)
Through a Managed Care Organization (MCO)
This is when the member gets help from providers who work for or with a company like BlueCare, UnitedHealthcare, or Wellpoint. These companies are called MCOs.
MCOs work with agencies that:
-
Hire, train, and schedule staff to help the member.
-
Include doctors, therapists, and home care staff.
-
Are like regular health insurance companies that help people get care.
Through Consumer Direction (CD)
With Consumer Direction, the member or their Representative chooses, hires, and trains their own workers to help them.
-
The member can ask friends or family members (with some limits) to be their workers.
-
The member is in charge of finding, hiring, and scheduling their staff.
-
This gives more control over who helps the member and how they help.
Each choice has pros and cons. The member or their Representative can talk with the Support Coordinator to decide which option works best.
